UPDATE: Police have updated their investigation into a homicide on Waywayseecappo First Nation. Ferlin Bone, pictured above, has turned himself in to Manitoba First Nations Police. He is presumed innocent.
ORIGINAL STORY
On August 31, 2025, at approximately 6:15 pm, Manitoba First Nation Police Service were notified of a shooting within the community.
Upon attending the scene, police located a 23-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries. Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services were then notified and took carriage of the homicide investigation.
The investigation has led to the identification of a suspect who left the residence after the shooting in a red SUV. Officers later located the vehicle abandoned, outside of the community.
RCMP have issued a warrant of arrest for 32-year-old Ferlin Bone on a charge of 2nd degree murder.
The victim and the suspect were known to each other, and police believe this to be a targeted incident.
