As a new school year is set to begin, so too is a new election period for a position with the Brandon School Division. From now until 4:30 PM next Wednesday, September 10, the official nomination period is open for those wishing to run for the position of School Trustee in the October 16th by-election.
In a release, the Senior Election Official for the Brandon School Division said the nominations would open today and run until the end of business day on September 10. A full list of candidate nomination requirements can be found at https://www.brandon.ca/votes.
“Candidates intending to file nomination papers are encouraged to book an appointment with Senior Election Official Heather Ewasiuk by calling 204-724-2654 to ensure their nomination documentation is processed prior to the above deadline,” reads the release.
Though the byelection will take place October 16, there will be two advanced voting opportunities prior to that date. These will be October 8th and 11th at Brandon City Hall and the Pioneer Lounge at the Keystone Centre. The release also said voters can apply to vote by sealed envelope “if they have reason to believe that they will be unable to vote at their regular Voting Place on Election Day or during Advance Voting opportunities.”
