Environment Canada has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of southwest Manitoba and southeast Saskatchewan including the City of Brandon. The watch is in effect for this evening through midnight.
Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
Thunderstorms have developed over western North Dakota and will track northwards towards the international border this evening. Localized downpours, large hail and very strong wind gusts may accompany some of the thunderstorms. Be prepared for severe weather.
If threatening weather approaches, take cover in a basement or interior room. If outside, protect yourself from flying debris and hail. When thunder roars, go indoors! Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail, wind or rain.
