Some Dogs Can Group Their Toys By Function.
Lots of dogs can recognize the names of their favorite toys, but new research finds that some can even organize their toys by function, even if they don’t look the same.
According to a new study, certain dogs, known as “gifted word learners” can sort toys by what they’re used for, like fetching or tugging.
It’s what scientists call “label extension” and while it usually takes years of training in a strict setting, some smart pups picked it up just by playing with their owners at home.⠀
