Hamburger Helper sales are up as the cost of beef and other grocery items continue to climb. Similar economic conditions existed in the 1970s, when the flavored pasta mix first emerged as a pantry staple.
Amid a decline in demand for products made by most food companies, analysts see an uptick in items like canned tuna and rice, foods commonly bought during difficult financial times. An appearance on Hulu’s popular series “The Bear” also helped boost Hamburger Helper sales, according to owner Eagle Food.
