A 16-year-old boy, accused of attacking a student with a sword at Brandon’s Neelin High School back in June, faces more charges. Two more victims have reportedly been confirmed, and the suspect has now been charged
with three counts of attempted murder. On June 10th, a 15-year-old student suffered multiple stab wounds in an attack police have deemed a hate crime. The Crown is also seeking to have the accused sentenced as an adult if convicted.

The minimum wage is going up in five provinces, including in Manitoba, at the start of October. Manitoba’s will increase to $16.00-an-hour. Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan and Nova Scotia are also raising their wages. The highest minimum wage in Canada is in Nunavut at $19.75.

A joint provincial – federal investigation into TikTok says the company must do more to keep children off its video-sharing app. They say TikTok has been collecting and using personal information of hundreds of thousands
of children under the age of 13, despite the company stating its platform is not intended for users that young. TikTok has accepted the findings, and says it’ll do more to keep underage users off the platform.

He met with CEO’s and world leaders in an ongoing effort to diversify Canada’s trade and economic opportunities. In his speech, U-S president Donald Trump questioned the United Nation’s purpose saying it was full of “empty words”.

Three American astronauts and a Canadian could be orbiting the moon in early 2026. NASA says the Artemis 2 mission is now scheduled for April 2026 at the latest, and could come as soon as February. A moon landing is planned for a future mission. China is also racing to land a crew on the moon by 2030.
