Assiniboine College unveiled a $24-Million dollar med lab project; that will host 2-new programs, starting next year. It will see the mechanics shop transformed into classrooms, learning spaces, an auditorium and several labs at the Victoria Avenue East campus. Funding: $10 million from ACC; the Province- $9.13 million in capital funding, $4 million for equipment and $5 million for construction. The remaining $5 million will be raised through fundraising. 650 people are already on an “interest list”.

Local businesses owners say it is not just about keeping up with technology, but about reducing drivers hunting for pocket change. It’s called “Just Hang Up” ; encouraging people to stop the fraud in its tracks. Hang up early and shut the scam down. The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre says; that adults over 60 in Mb lost around $350,000 to these types of scams in 2024.

Prime Minister Carney pledged sanctions, and $2 billion for Ukraine, 4-years after full-scale invasion. The PM says the new sanctions will target 100 vessels in the shadow fleet; which are involved in attempts to evade sanctions on Russian oil. Carney says Russia is failing. The sooner they come to the table and actually participate in peace negotiations, the better it will be.

Brandon Parents are pleading with the province to step up funding for student lunch supervision. The Brandon Parent Council Collective appeared before the B-S-D board Monday, asking to keep all elementary students at school during lunch. Right now, students who live 1.6 km away from school or further; have their supervision during lunch taken care of by the school; and are also bused at the start and end of the day. Trustees listened and asked their administration to publish the Parent council presentation on the division’s website, sending it to the education minister, and every MLA.
