A new 6-storey residential complex will be built at 29-40 Victoria Avenue, starting this spring. The 120-unit building will showcase 17 one-bedroom suites, the rest are: three-or four-bedroom units. The one-bedroom units will be affordable housing.

Statistics Canada says the country’s population edged down in the fourth quarter, dipping 0.2 per cent, the first back-to-back drop ever recorded. The population fell by 103,504 people from Oct. 1, 2025 to Jan. 1, 2026; Right now 41,472,81 people are living in Canada. Alberta had the fastest growth rate in any province or territory.

2- youths from Manitoba and Nova Scotia have been arrested for allegedly planning to mount a violent attack; at Rivers Collegiate and a N.S. School; simultaneously. March 13, Interpol and the FBI tipped off Police in both provinces. March 16; RCMP arrested a 14-year-old Rivers male on his school bus; his phone and electronic devices were seized; including 2 firearms at another residence. He’s charged with uttering threats, and more charges are possible. The 15-year-old Nova Scotia youth was arrested March 17. Handwritten plans, imitation weapons, a roughly made imitation pipe bomb and an assault rifle, and hate symbols were seized. He’s charged with conspiracy to commit murder, uttering threats.

A shortage of Paramedics has created horrendous wait times for Rural patients, creating frustration and burnout. Right now, rural residents can wait for up to an hour for an ambulance to arrive. Shared Health data reveals there were 25 fewer full-time-paramedics working in rural Westman in December 2025 than in December 2023. The Brandon Sun filed a freedom of information request. 200 new paramedics were promised to be hired by the NDP; so far; only 18 have been hired since October 2023
