Health Canada has recalled Tim Hortons ceramic mugs; that may crack or break when filled with hot liquid. The mugs, sold between January 15th and February 18th, are white with a pink interior and feature a heat-changing doughnut design. So far, 1-burn injury and 28 incidents in Canada as of March 10th.

Manitoba Hydro rates will continue to rise for another 2 years. The 4-per cent interim rate hike was given the green light by The Manitoba Public Utilities Board A 3.5% hike effective January 1, 2027 and 3.0% rate increase, effective January 1, 2028 were also approved. Manitoba Hydro is experiencing significant short-term financial pressure due to severe drought conditions.

It’s the first day of spring and the City’s pothole season is already underway. Priority will be given to 26th and 34th streets, and Park Avenue with 1 or 2-trucks, each with 2-workers doing repairs; out each weekday; fixing roads. Workers apply cold-patch mix during the spring. Provincial highways, including 18th Street and part of First Street, along with parts of Victoria and Richmond avenues, are repaired by the province.

Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries has secured naming rights to the Keystone Centre’s viewing lounge and assembly hall as part of a multi-year sponsorship agreement. The Brandon Sun says this 3-year deal came into effect last fall; with a clause to renew the partnership beyond 2028; allowing Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries the right of first refusal for securing the naming rights in the future. It will offset the cost of hosting local sporting events, agricultural exhibitions, conferences, fairs and entertainment programming.
