New App Lets Users Send Drinks To Strangers Remotely
There’s a new app shaking up social life by letting people send drinks to strangers at bars without ever saying a word, turning awkward first moves into a tap on your phone. After getting through a massive 20-thousand person waitlist, users can use Dion to gift anything from coffee to cocktails at dozens of venues in a few select cities (New York, Miami, Los Angeles, Dubai and Mexico City for now). The app’s creators say it often sparks real-life meetups and outperforms typical dating apps.
People are using it for everything from flirting and dating to networking and even surprising friends, all while avoiding the pressure of dealing face-to-face. Still, while it makes breaking the ice easier, some experts warn it can blur lines between genuine connection and transactional interact.
What the what???
