Since the passing of 29‑year‑old Jordan Old in late 2022, his family and friends have worked to honor his memory through community‑driven fundraising that strengthens emergency care. Now, that legacy will be carried forward inside Brandon’s new Intensive Care Unit.
Jordan passed away on October 22, 2022 (7 days shy of 30th birthday), following a workplace incident. He was airlifted to Winnipeg by STARS Air Ambulance, but despite the efforts of medical teams, he did not survive. In the months that followed, Jordan’s close friends—many of whom he golfed with for years—joined his parents, Billy and Shelly Old, to create the Jordan Old Memorial Golf Tournament. The event directs 50% of proceeds to the BRHC Foundation and 50% to STARS in appreciation of the care Jordan received during the emergency flight.

In the months that followed his passing, Jordan’s close friends — many of whom he golfed with for years — joined his parents, Billy and Shelly Old, to create the Jordan Old Memorial Golf Tournament. Now entering its fourth year, the tournament has grown into a major community fundraiser. Since launching in 2023, the tournament has raised $76,000, including $33,000 last year alone—funds that continue to support life‑saving care across Manitoba.
That impact is now extending to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, which has confirmed that one of the rooms in the hospital’s new 16‑bed Intensive Care Unit will be named in Jordan’s honour. The ICU is part of a major critical‑care expansion at BRHC, including a 30‑bed addition and a new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.

Jo‑Anne Lewis, Executive Director of the BRHC Foundation, says the naming process is part of a structured recognition program. Rooms are allocated at three donation levels — $25,000, $50,000, and $100,000 — with each name remaining in place for a minimum of 20 years. She says the Old family’s commitment and the tournament’s success made the recognition a natural fit.
Billy and Shelly say the support behind the tournament has been overwhelming, “We would like to express how much we appreciate the support for the golf tourney. There’s no way we could do this without the support from the community and surrounding areas behind us to leave a lasting legacy in Jordan’s name.”

Construction on the new ICU is ongoing, and while no official opening date has been set, the Foundation hopes to see the unit operational sometime this summer. Room allocations are being finalized ahead of the opening.
The fourth annual Jordan Old memorial Golf Tournament will be held at Wheat City Aug 7th. Registration will open soon and we will be sending out posters for sponsorships/donations.
