Gmail Will Finally Let You Change Your Embarrassing Email Address starting today
Google is finally letting people change their old, embarrassing Gmail address, while keeping their emails. You also get to keep your previous handle for anyone who still has that address as an “alternate.”
Are you still stuck with a ridiculous email address like BeerMeBro2002@gmail.com . . . QTBullfrogCheerleader@gmail.com . . . or HumansSuckCatsRock@gmail.com?
Basically, it just lets you easily transition to a more mature address, without having to start a separate account, and move everything over. Google announced this a while back, but it was only available to select test accounts. Now, starting today, is should be available to all accounts.
To change your username, go to the email settings page. From there, click on Personal info > Email > Google Account email. If your account is eligible, you’ll see a Change Google Account email option. And be careful what you pick. You can only change it once every 12 months.
Thanks,
Shelly and Tim
