A Grammy-award winning concert violinist who has been described as a favorite guest at the world’s most celebrated concert halls is coming home.
Brandon native James Ehnes, along with accompanying pianist Andrew Armstrong, will return to Brandon on May 7 to play at the Lorne Watson Recital Hall at 7:30 PM. Brandon University’s School of Music is helping facilitate the performance.
Ehnes’ performances include work with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, NHK Symphony, LA Philharmonic, Boston Symphony, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and Cleveland Orchestra. He is the winner of two Grammy Awards, three Gramophone Awards and 12 JUNO Awards, more than any other classical musician.
The standout violinist is on tour through Europe with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and is playing the Grosses Festspielhaus in Salzburg, Austria tonight. He will return to Canada for a Canadian tour starting on May 1.
