Trend reports are officially rolling out, including Yelp’s 2026 Summer Home Trend Report.
To compile it, the platform tapped its team of data analysts and internal trend experts, analyzing search behavior and Request a Quote submissions from the first three months of the year to understand how people are searching, hiring pros, and planning projects for their homes.
Yelp’s Request a Quote data shows major increases in projects like full interior painting (up 72%), wallpapering (up 450%), and furniture assembly (up 175%). So what are people actually doing to their homes? In short: leaning into personality and hobby-driven updates.
According to Yelp, project requests for wallpapering are up 450%, along with a 70% increase in searches for custom upholstery.
Yelp reports that services like framed mirror installation and historic restoration are up dramatically—733% and 2,697%, respectively.
In 2026, ceilings, doors, trim, and even exteriors are getting drenched in bold hues, with Yelp reporting a 72% increase in project requests for full interior painting. The platform first forecasted the color-drenching trend in 2023, and it has only continued to rise in popularity.
Homeowners are also paying attention to the “fifth wall,” with searches for ceiling painters up 16,884% and ceiling staining up 3,449%. Statement doors are having a moment, too, with searches for door painting and staining soaring 187,073%. Color is taking over exteriors as well. Homes, decks, and porches are being coated in saturated shades, with project requests for exterior painting up 500% and deck or porch painting up 177%.
Project requests for trim or moulding painting are on the rise (up 65%) as people refresh baseboards, door frames, crown moulding, and window casings.
