A major new player has entered the Canadian agriculture landscape with the launch of AIVA — the Agriculture Innovation, Validation and Adoption Network. Announced May 12 in Winnipeg, the network is designed to give farmers something they’ve been asking for: trusted, real‑world proof that emerging ag technologies actually work on Canadian farms. Learn more about the network at aivanetwork.ca.
AIVA brings farmers and innovators together to test and validate agtech using standardized frameworks that measure real on‑farm value, including reduced input costs, improved productivity, and better decision‑making. Technologies are trialed in real field conditions, addressing a long‑standing challenge for innovators who often lack access to commercial‑scale testing environments.
That gap matters. In 2025, Farm Credit Canada reported that boosting agricultural productivity through innovation could add $30 billion to farm incomes over the next decade. But without farmer‑driven testing, many promising tools struggle to reach commercial adoption.
AIVA aims to change that. Its farmer‑centric model rigorously vets both early‑stage and market‑ready technologies, ensuring they solve real‑world challenges before reaching producers. Technologies that demonstrate strong, measurable results may earn recognition as AIVA Technology Partners.
For the 2026 growing season, AIVA’s Validation Hubs will run nine national, multi‑site trials with companies including Geco Weed Management, Corteva, Picketa, Miraterra, and FarmerTitan. These projects will test tools such as spray drones, remote sensing systems, and next‑generation farm management software.
The network has already secured 25 Farmer Alliance Members across more than 297,000 acres in Saskatchewan and Manitoba to pilot market‑ready innovations. AIVA plans to expand its farmer network in the coming years to ensure representation from across the country.
AIVA has also established a national industry coalition to strengthen collaboration across the agtech sector and accelerate the pace of adoption. Founded by FCC, EMILI, and WHIN, the network’s mission is to help farmers adopt technology with confidence and ensure every investment improves efficiency and profitability.
As AIVA Network Lead Rebecca Franklin puts it, the goal is simple: give farmers the trusted, third‑party data they need to make informed decisions.
