The Town of Carberry is asking residents to help chart the community’s future as it hosts a Community Focus Group on June 6, 2026. The session will give citizens a chance to share ideas and identify local priorities, with feedback feeding directly into the town’s long-term planning efforts.
The meeting comes as Carberry continues work on its 2021 Strategic Plan, developed with HMC Management. That plan outlines a goal of growing the town’s population toward 2,500 residents through sustainable business expansion and new housing development. Town leadership including Mayor Ray Muirhead and councillors Bill Kalinowich, Debbie Rea, Samantha Van Damme, and Lisa Dobbin-Waters says community input is essential as Carberry moves into its next phase of development.
This round of public engagement also arrives during a busy political year for the community. Carberry is preparing for the general municipal election on October 28, 2026, following a March by-election in which Lisa Dobbin-Waters won a council seat over Michael Hamilton. Officials say the upcoming focus group will help ensure residents’ voices are reflected in decisions leading up to and beyond the fall vote.
The town has also recently updated its social media policy in an effort to promote more constructive communication. The change follows harassment incidents earlier this year, including a dispute involving the owner of a local Chicken Chef restaurant that raised concerns about community relations.
Residents interested in participating in the June 6 session are encouraged to attend and help shape Carberry’s direction in the years ahead. Get more information online here.
