Warm weather and a strong community spirit helped make this year’s Alzheimer Society of Manitoba Walk a major success in Westman.
Regional Coordinator Christine Jefferies says roughly 130 people took part, raising more than $4,500 — and that total doesn’t yet include online donations still coming in.
Jefferies says the turnout was “truly inspiring,” adding that the event highlighted how important it is for the community to show up for people living with dementia and their care partners. She offered a heartfelt thank‑you to the volunteers whose efforts helped the walk run smoothly.
Funds raised through the event support the Alzheimer Society’s essential work, including information services, education programs, advocacy, and direct support for families navigating dementia. Jefferies says these resources are vital — especially in Westman, where “our office may be small, but we are mighty.”
