The Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba is rolling out enhanced safety and security measures ahead of the 2026 Manitoba Summer Fair, which opens Wednesday, June 3, on the Keystone Centre grounds in Brandon. Organizers say the goal is to ensure a safe, welcoming, and family‑friendly environment as thousands of visitors arrive for one of Western Manitoba’s largest summer events.
In preparation for this year’s fair, the Provincial Exhibition has expanded its partnerships with the Brandon Police Service, Bluejay Guard Security, and the Waywayseecappo First Nation Safety Officer Program. These agencies will work together throughout the five‑day event to support crowd management, guest assistance, and proactive safety operations.
One of the most notable measures returning this year is the use of full soft‑body scanning technology at all public entrances. Officials say the scanners help maintain a secure environment while keeping wait times efficient and minimizing disruptions for families and fairgoers. Additional trained personnel will also be on site during peak attendance periods. “We acquired hi-tech walk through gates much like you see at the Jets games to make sure that we keep all the bad guys out, make sure we keep all the contraband stuff out,” said Tim Rowan, Co-Chair of the Summer Fair.
Organizers say the strengthened approach — supported by Brandon Police and partner agencies — is aimed at ensuring a safe, family-friendly event. The Fair had no reported security related incidents last year and are aiming for the same this year.
“The safety of our guests, exhibitors, staff, volunteers, and partners continues to be one of our top priorities. We want families and visitors to feel confident when attending the Manitoba Summer Fair,” said Rowan.
Following a successful 2025 fair with minimal incidents reported, organizers say they are confident in the strength of this year’s safety plan. The 2026 Manitoba Summer Fair runs June 3–7 and features midway rides, live entertainment, agricultural showcases, horse events, family attractions, and a full slate of community programming.
