A walk to raise awareness, bring people together, and support survivors with the eventual goal of ending brain tumours forever will take place in Brandon this coming weekend.
The Brandon Brain Tumour Walk is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, starting at the East End Community Centre starting at 10:00 AM and going until 2:00 PM. There will be a barbecue lunch at noon, as well as performances from Gerry Allen at noon and Grey Williams at 1:00 PM.
“What makes the Brain Tumour Walk so meaningful is the people,” says Nicole Farrell, CEO of Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada. “The people who show up to walk and volunteer. The people who donate. The people who come together from near and far, so no one has to face this alone.”
Community Champion Onix Collette, who lost her mom, Brandi Massina, to a brain tumour, and who is in her third year of hosting the Brandon Brain Tumour Walk, will speak at the event.
A release from the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada says the event “brings together people at every stage of the journey, from those newly diagnosed, to long-time survivors, to families walking in memory of someone they’ve lost.”
