The North Cypress–Langford Fire Department is inviting residents to gather for its annual Fireman’s Breakfast on Saturday, June 20, at the Carberry Plains Community Centre. Running from 8 to 11 a.m., the event offers a hearty meal for a small donation, with all proceeds supporting the volunteer firefighters who protect Carberry and the surrounding municipality.
The breakfast is one of the department’s most important fundraisers, helping maintain equipment and keep trucks ready to roll. Like many rural fire services across Manitoba, the Carberry crew relies heavily on community support as volunteer numbers continue to decline province‑wide. Organizers say the breakfast not only raises money but also gives residents a chance to meet the firefighters who respond to emergencies day and night.
The department has a long history of service, from receiving Manitoba’s Order of the Buffalo Hunt for its response to the 2023 highway tragedy near Carberry to sending members north in 2025 to help battle wildfires near Pukatawagan and Flin Flon.
Everyone is welcome to attend Saturday’s breakfast. It’s a Texas-style plate — 20 bucks for New York strip or pork loin with eggs, toast, beans and hash browns, as the department urges community support amid falling volunteer numbers.
