The City of Brandon has launched its annual Micro Surfacing Program, with road improvement work scheduled throughout the summer and fall of 2026. The project, which will be completed by West-Can Seal Coatings Inc., will help extend the life of roadways and improve driving conditions across several residential and arterial streets in the city.
Residents living along the selected routes can expect temporary access restrictions and short-term parking limitations while crews complete the work. Residents should also expect temporary driveway access restrictions, and keep children and pets away from work areas.
City officials say once they get a confirmed start date from contractors they will post it on their social media sites.
“No Parking” signs will be posted by 5 p.m. the day before construction begins on a street, indicating work will commence the following morning.
The streets included in the 2026 Micro Surfacing Program are:
- 11th Street East (Rosser Avenue to Victoria Avenue)
- 12th Street East (Rosser Avenue to Lorne Avenue)
- Princess Avenue (1st Street to 8th Street)
- Van Horne Avenue (Dennis Street to 17th Street East)
- Rideau Street (Victoria Avenue to Van Horne Avenue)
- Franklin Street (Van Horne Avenue to College Avenue)
- Percy Street (Van Horne Avenue to College Avenue)
- McTavish Avenue East (Park Street to Douglas Street)
- 14th Street East (Victoria Avenue to Van Horne Avenue)
- Westaway Bay
- Wilnor Bay

- Pembina Place
- Neepawa Drive
- Wakomma Drive
- Filte Bay
- Kelsey Bay
- Young Avenue (Lyndale Drive to Tracy Street)
- Ottawa Avenue (26th Street to 20th Street)
During construction, driveway access may be temporarily restricted while road oil is applied and the surface is sealed. The City is reminding residents to keep children, pets and vehicles away from active work areas, as fresh road oil and construction equipment can pose safety risks.
Residents are encouraged to register for construction updates through the City’s text message alert system at https://textme.brandon.ca/. Questions or concerns can be directed to 2026Microseal@brandon.ca or by contacting City representatives at 204-721-1552 or 204-761-8494.
