🏛️ Council Approves Retroactive Pay Increases
Brandon City Council has voted 8–1 to approve retroactive wage increases for roughly 90 non‑union employees, aiming to boost competitiveness and improve recruitment and retention. A Human Resources review found Brandon’s non‑union salaries lagged significantly behind similar‑sized municipalities.

A 25‑year‑old is in custody after allegedly trying to steal a police officer’s gun at a hospital on Monday.
🚨 RCMP: Officer Attacked at Portage Hospital
RCMP say Dylan Two‑voice attacked an officer guarding a prisoner at Portage Hospital and later attempted to steal a handgun while being handcuffed by other officers.
👦 Teen Punched Over Video Game Dispute
A 17‑year‑old was taken to hospital after police say his father punched him during an argument over pawning video games for drug money. The 42‑year‑old was arrested but released when the teen and his mother declined to co‑operate.
🏠 Assault‑by‑Choking Charge on 26th Street
A 41‑year‑old man faces an assault‑by‑choking charge after police say he grabbed his wife by the face and neck during a domestic dispute. She had visible injuries; he was held for a court appearance Tuesday.
🚗 Impaired Driver Caught at 149 km/h
A 32‑year‑old St. Andrews‑area man faces a probation‑related charge after RCMP say he was driving impaired at 149 km/h on Highway 68. He was fined more than $3,200, had his licence suspended, and officers also found unstamped tobacco in his vehicle.

📺 CTV Icon Lloyd Robertson Dies at 92
One of Canada’s most recognizable news anchors, Lloyd Robertson, has died at 92. The longtime CTV chief anchor spent 35 years at CTV National News, was inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame, named to the Order of Canada, and received multiple honorary degrees — including an honorary Doctor of Laws from Brandon University in 2013.
🌑 Falcon 9 Booster Creates New Lunar Crater
The Moon now has a new crater after a discarded Falcon 9 booster slammed into its far side at 8,700 km/h, giving scientists an unexpected “controlled impact” to study. NASA is awaiting Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter images of the fresh crater and dust plume; there was no risk to Earth.
