Farmer coats apples in ‘sunblock’ to help them survive heat wave
A farmer has been applying special ‘sunblock’ to his apples to prevent them from COOKING as Britain struggles through another heat wave.
Clive Baxter, 66, has worked on his family tree fruit farm for 40 years, following in his father’s footsteps.
The farm produces 2,000 metric tons of apples per year — but for the last six years he has had to coat his Bramley apples with clay to prevent them from cooking on the tree as the climate changes.
