After a summer of heavy rains and flooding damage left the course operating on various stages of limited capacity, Wheat City Golf Course has officially returned to full 18-hole play.
In a post on their Facebook page, the course said they have returned to 18-hole play and are trying to return every single hole to its original par-status. Some holes that had previously reopened had been forced to do so as temporary par 3s.
The most recent update from the course says holes one and five, which had been serving as temporary par 3s, were now returned to their original par 4 play. Holes four and seven remain temporary par 3s as of the latest update.
“Our grounds crew continues to work hard on improvements throughout the course, and we’ll share more updates as additional holes return to their regular layouts,” they said in the update.
The course first began to suffer flooding damage in late June, though they were able to reopen after drying much of the course out. They were forced to close for a time due to dike reinforcement, then more rain forced several closures and re-openings. At one time, 11 of the courses 18 holes were dealing with different degrees of flooding damage.
