BRANDON, Man. — The Rural Manitoba Economic Development Corporation (RMED) is congratulating its board chair, Chuck Davidson, on his appointment as President and Chief Executive Officer of Winnipeg Economic Development & Tourism, effective Sept. 8.
Davidson brings more than a decade of leadership experience to the role after serving as President and CEO of the Manitoba Chambers of Commerce. Throughout that time, he worked closely with businesses, municipalities, Indigenous partners, industry organizations, local chambers, and governments across the province. Since RMED was established in 2019, Davidson has also served as chair of the organization’s board of directors, helping guide initiatives aimed at advancing economic development across rural Manitoba.
His appointment comes at a pivotal time as the Manitoba government and the City of Winnipeg move to expand the mandate of Winnipeg Economic Development & Tourism. The organization has been tasked with leading the development of a provincewide economic development agency designed to create a more coordinated approach to investment attraction, business development, and long-term economic growth.
RMED CEO Margot Cathcart said Davidson’s extensive understanding of Manitoba’s business community and economic development landscape makes him well suited for the position.
“Chuck has a strong understanding of Manitoba’s business and economic development community, and the important role rural communities play in our provincial economy,” Cathcart said. “We congratulate him on this appointment and look forward to continuing to work together.”
Davidson will continue serving as RMED board chair while assuming his new responsibilities.
Cathcart noted that increased collaboration among economic development organizations presents an opportunity to strengthen connections between rural communities, businesses, investors, and partners across Manitoba.
