BRANDON, MB — Brandon University’s School of Music will kick off a new season of its acclaimed pro series with a faculty concert on Tuesday, September 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Lorne Watson Recital Hall at 258 – 20th Street in Brandon.
The opening performance will showcase the exceptional talent and artistic diversity of the School of Music faculty through a program that spans multiple genres and styles. Audience members can look forward to newly commissioned solo works alongside collaborative performances featuring Brazilian songs, tango arrangements, French repertoire, and beloved jazz standards.
The concert will feature performances by pianists Alexander Tselyakov, Megumi Masaki, Daniel Tselyakov, Danielle Guina, and Luis Ramirez. Joining them on stage will be Kerry DuWors (violin), Catherine Wood (clarinet), Nora Wilson (trombone), Marika Galea (bass), Callie Siverson (horn), Diogo Peixoto (guitar), Greg Gatien (saxophone), and Leanne Zacharias (cello).
For Dean of Music Leanne Zacharias, the annual faculty concert is an important tradition that celebrates both the start of the academic year and the remarkable musicianship within the School of Music.
“Our faculty excel in the classroom as educators, and they are just as accomplished onstage, with incredible musicianship and diversity throughout our group,” said Zacharias. “I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the new academic year than by gathering to share the joy of making music.”
Tickets are available at the door for $20 general admission. Admission is free for Brandon University students and Conservatory of Music students.
The concert will take place in the Lorne Watson Recital Hall, located inside the Queen Elizabeth II Music Building. Seating is limited, and programs are subject to change.
