The deadline for candidate nominations has passed as of yesterday night, and there will be races for all but one position on Brandon City Council in 2026.
Bruce Luebke, councilor for Ward 6, will be re-elected by acclamation after being the sole registered candidate in his ward. Luebke first began representing the ward in 2018 after winning with a heavy majority vote of 71 percent. He was also acclaimed in 2022.
Ward 6 includes the Keystone Centre, Dome Building, Brandon Fire & Emergency Services Firehall No.2, the Brandon Police Service Building, Brandon Armoury, and the Agriculture Extension Centre.
Every other ward, however, has at least two people running and elections will be required everywhere else in Brandon. This includes for Mayor, where Jeff Fawcett (the incumbent) will be up against Len Isleifson.
The most populous races will be in Wards 2 and 3, where four people are registered as candidates.
