A targeted RCMP operation aimed at prolific retail theft offenders in Dauphin has resulted in eight arrests and several additional tickets for offences ranging from trespassing to public liquor consumption.
The two-day enforcement initiative took place Sept. 18 and Sept. 22 and was led by the Manitoba West District General Investigation Section, with support from Dauphin RCMP, Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP and the Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST).
Police say the operation focused on offenders linked to ongoing retail theft and related criminal activity. In addition to the arrests, officers issued six trespassing tickets, two tickets for consuming liquor in public, and several traffic-related tickets and warnings.
Among those arrested were suspects wanted for robbery, break-and-enter, release order violations, and retail theft offences. RCMP also seized weapons and break-in tools during the operation.
Police say the enforcement effort is part of ongoing work to address repeat offenders and reduce retail crime in the Dauphin area.
Arrests Included:
- 33-year-old Dauphin woman wanted on a warrant for a residential break-and-enter. Released on an undertaking.
- Reagan Skwark, 48, of Dauphin, arrested for breaching curfew and other court-ordered conditions. Remanded into custody.
- James Ducharme, 22, of Dauphin, wanted in connection with a recent robbery. Charged with failure to comply and possession of weapons for a dangerous purpose. Remanded.
- 35-year-old Dauphin man charged after allegedly violating conditions prohibiting him from attending a local retail business following previous shoplifting incidents.
- Mikayla Monkman, 28, of Dauphin, charged with two counts of breaching a release order.
- MacKenzie Cameron, 25, of Prince Albert, charged with theft under $5,000 and failure to comply with a release order.
- Zachary McDougall, 27, of Prince Albert, charged with weapons and break-in instrument offences, along with breaching a release order.
- 37-year-old Brandon man arrested Sept. 24 after allegedly fleeing police following a retail theft. Charged with theft and resisting or obstructing a peace officer. Released on an undertaking.
