The Manitoba Harm Reduction Network in Brandon is hosting its spring cleanup this afternoon – and it’s open to volunteers.
You’ll learn how to safely pick-up and dispose of disgarded syringes – as well as gather litter.
Volunteers will be grouped into teams to ensure safety and will be given supplies, including bags, gloves and safety vests. If you want, you can bring your own supplies and remember to dress for the weather.
If you’d like to take part, it starts at 1:00 pm today at Princess Park with the main areas being targeted from 4th to 12th Streets and from Princess to Pacific Avenues.
The Harm Reduction Network’s ‘Peer Advisory Council’, with members who have experiened addictions themselves, is spearheading the clean-up. Their message is that people living on the streets are not the major cause of litter.
