On April 3, 2023, at approximately 8:50 pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle from a parking lot of a business on Saskatchewan Avenue West, in Portage la Prairie.
The vehicle licence plate was shared with surrounding detachments and patrols were made.
Brandon RCMP located the vehicle on Highway 1 travelling at a high rate of speed. An officer initiated a traffic stop with the suspect vehicle near Carberry, and two females were arrested without incident. Officers recovered a knife, and stolen items including a cellphone and wallet.
The driver, Jessica Levasseur, 24, of Brandon, had two outstanding warrants of arrest. She has also been charged with Theft, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Failing to Comply.
A 26-year-old female has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and was released from custody with an upcoming court date.

On April 3, 2023, at approximately 12:40 am, Island Lake RCMP received a report of three individuals being attacked and injured in Garden Hill First Nation. Officers attended the Nursing Station immediately, where three victims were being treated for slash wounds.
Initial investigation has determined that a party was being held at a residence in the community when a female was asked to leave the party. The 33-year-old female left and then returned with a box cutter, slashing a 26-year-old female, a 24-year-old female, and a 39-year-old male. All three have life-altering injuries.
The suspect was located and arrested. She is charged with Aggravated Assault x3, Uttering Threats x2, and Possess Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose. She was released from custody pending a May court appearance.

On April 3, 2023, at approximately 12:35 pm, Island Lake RCMP received a report that a male had been shot in Wasagamack First Nation. The 27-year-old male victim was transported to the Nursing Station and then to Winnipeg hospital in stable condition.
Investigation led officers to a suspect, who was taken into custody at approximately 2:35 am. The 35-year-old male remains in custody.
The victim and the suspect are known to each other.
The investigation continues.
