On May 8, 2023, Brandon police received a report of a male suspect attending to a business in the 3100 block of Victoria Avenue claiming to be a police officer from Winnipeg. Prior to attending the business, police say the suspect repeatedly called the business with the same request. Police say the suspect had advised employees he was looking for video surveillance from the business.
On May 9, 2023, police learned the same suspect attended another business in the 2500 block of Victoria Avenue claiming to be a police officer from Winnipeg who was looking for video surveillance.
Police learned the identity of the male suspect and say a 31-year-old man from Brandon was allegedly looking for information on his ex-girlfriend. Police also learned that in spite of a no contact order, he reportedly continued to attempt to make contact with her daily. He was also wanted on outstanding charges of Criminal Harassment. The suspect is not a police officer.
On May 9, 2023, police located and arrested the suspect. He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on new charges of Personating a Peace Officer X2, Criminal Harassment, and Fail to Comply with Release Order.

On May 9, 2023, at approximately 7:18 am, police responded to a report from a homeowner in the 400 block of 18th Street that a male had come into the porch of their residence and was behaving erratically. When police arrived, they say the male was holding a bike lock and a metal pipe wrench in a threatening manner. Police attempted to order the male to drop the items, but say he would not comply. The male then fled the area on a bicycle, and police followed.
Other members attended to the area to locate the suspect. Officers quickly discovered him in the 1500 block of Victoria Avenue, but he continued to try to evade them while on the bicycle. As a member approached him on foot, the suspect allegedly swung what is believed to be a folded metal tent pole, striking the officer causing minor injuries. The member was able to stop the male and arrest him after he continued to resist.
The 32-year-old male suspect was to abide by conditions not to attend the City of Brandon. He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court on charges of Break and Enter with Intent, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Possession of Break-In Instruments, Assault Peace Officer with a Weapon X2, Resist Arrest and Fail to Comply with a Release Order.

On May 9, 2023, Brandon police responded to a report of a male suspect who had entered an unoccupied hotel room at a business in the 1900 block of Queens Avenue. The male was not a registered guest. Police attended and arrested a 30-year-old male. He was later released to appear in court on July 24, 2023 on a charge of Break and Enter and Commit Mischief.

On April 26, 2023, police received a report of a damaged window at a school in the 300 block of 3rd Street. Police say security footage of the incident showed a male youth suspect throw a rock through the window. Police were able to identify the 16-year-old male. On May 9, 2023, he was located and arrested. He was released to appear in court on August 1, 2023 on a charge of Mischief Under $5000.

On May 9, 2023, police located and arrested a 25-year-old male on outstanding charges of Fail to Attend Court and Theft Under $5000. He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today.
