The Killarney Ag Society has received $10,000 from the Westoba Credit Union Inspire program in support of a new outdoor event stage for the community.
While the stage is owned by the Killarney Ag Society, Killarney Ag Society President, Tammy Munroe said in a media release this funding will benefit the entire community of Killarney.
“Our entire community uses this stage, “said Munroe. “Community members and tourists, as well as groups such as the Heritage Home for the Arts, the Prairie Pioneer Club, Minor Sports Teams, and our Municipality use this space for free community events.”
Munroe said the funds from Westoba Inspire have been used to revitalize the current community outdoor stage. “Our outdoor stage consisted of an older trailer with a metal roof,” said Munroe. “By upgrading the stage to a more permanent structure, all our community groups will be able to utilize the stage for different events and possibly attract new events to our community.”
Westoba Branch Manager for Killarney and Cartwright, Heather Heinrichs said the new Westoba Community Stage will be a welcome addition to the area.
“The Killarney Ag Centre has a long history of hosting superior events,” said Heinrichs. “Westoba is proud to support this community; investing into this important piece of community infrastructure will be appreciated by many for years to come.”
The funding from Westoba Inspire is part of Westoba’s 60th anniversary celebration. The Westoba Community Stage was officially opened during the Killarney Ag Fair on June 24th.
