On July 3, 2023, at approximately 12:20 am, Powerview RCMP responded to a report of a sudden death at a campground located in Manigotagan.
Officers were advised that during the thunderstorm, which produced strong winds, a large tree had fallen onto a tent where a male and female had been sleeping.
Several nearby campers heard the female calling for help and came to her aid.
The fallen tree had to be cut in order for the two to be freed.
The 60-year-old male, from Winnipeg, was pronounced deceased on scene. The female was not physically injured.
Powerview RCMP, along with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, continue to investigate.
