On Day 2 of Manitoba’s election campaign on Wednesday, September 6th – the Manitoba Progressive Conservatives pledged to eliminate the land transfer tax for first-time homebuyers.
The New Democrats said they’d open five neighbourhood health clinics for minor illness and injuries to be staffed by a team of emergency room doctors, nurses and technologists. The clinics would offer same-day appointments through online booking.
And the Manitoba Liberal Party’s campaign platform included about one-billion dollars in new spending, and higher taxes for some income earners and property owners.
Leader Dougald Lamont says the spending is needed to fix health-care, education and other services.
They also promised a minimum income for seniors, bonus pay for all front-line health-care workers, and medicare coverage for mental health services.
Today (Sept 7), the campaign focus will be on west Winnipeg.
