It’s the final week of election campaigning before next Tuesday’s vote.
Over the weekend, the Liberals promised more money for arts and sports groups if elected.
The New Democrats pledged they’d improve highway safety in the north – as well as fund more staff and equipment at health facilities. They also promised to launch a new provincial sexual assault strategy saying they want to ensure more sexual assault nurse examiners are available at all times – especially in rural and northern areas.
And the Progressive Conservatives said they’ll revive plans to expand private liquor sales in the province.

The Tories, meantime, are now actively campaigning on their opposition to searching a Winnipeg landfill for the remains of two Indigenous women – Morgan Harris and Marcedes Myran – who police believe were victims of an alleged serial killer.
The CBC reports a full-page ad in the Winnipeg Free Press on Saturday featured a photo of Conservative leader Heather Stefanson and read: “Stand firm”. “For health and safety reasons, the answer on the landfill dig just has to be no.” A report earlier this year said a search of the Prairie Green landfill north of Winnipeg could pose a health hazard to workers, cost about $184-million with no guarantee of success.
Chief Kyra Wilson of Long Plain First Nation told the CBC that the Progressive Conservatives using a family’s pain to motivate their campaign messaging is “disgusting” and “sick”.
Advance voting is underway until September 30th – with General Election Day on Tuesday, October 3rd.
