A report today says 3,600 unionized workers at Manitoba’s Real Canadian Superstore, No Frills and Extra Foods have reached a tentative new contract with Loblaw.
In a news release, UFCW 832 president, Jeff Traeger said the deal was reached early Thursday. The current contract expires at the end of today (Sept 29).
He said the agreement achieves gains for all workers, and recognizes efforts they made in keeping stores going during the pandemic.
Negotiations have been on-going since June, and earlier this month, workers had voted in favour of a strike mandate.
Once workers get a look at the contact, ratification voting is begin on October 19th.
