Brandon Regional Search and Rescue Association (BRSARA) is actively recruiting new members.
A media release says “BRSARA is a non-profit organization comprised of a team of dedicated professional volunteers trained to provide Search and Rescue (SAR) resources to authorities in Manitoba, such as the Office of the Fire Commissioner (OFC), RCMP and local policing agencies.
BRSARA members have experience in a variety of professional backgrounds that make up the team. In addition to providing Search and Rescue (SAR) resources, our members offer community services through programming and events.
30 active volunteers, plus one certified SAR K-9 team (handler and dog) are available through BRSARA to respond to both urban and rural calls in Manitoba as needed. We are supported provincially by the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner (OFC). BRSARA members respond to call outs initiated by Manitoba authorities to conduct Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) with a united goal in finding people before they come to harm.
You will be trained in GSAR basic skills, Leadership, GPS, map-reading, first aid and several other skills to become a GSAR professional volunteer. BRSARA volunteers are accountable for maintaining and upgrading their skills training and certification requirements. Our members take ownership of their skills and abilities by ensuring they are ready and able to serve so others may live.”
