Brandon firefighters and police responded to a smoldering fire near the Riverbank Discovery Centre this morning. Officials say the blaze was located between the centre and 18th Street, just north of the river – and was quickly extinguished.

On October 23, 2023, Brandon police responded to a report of a break and enter to a school in the 1200 block of 22nd Street at approximately 7:00 pm. Investigation revealed that a 14-year-old male had broken into the school and was located within by staff who called the suspect’s family to take him. The male was also to abide by a condition not to attend and Brandon School Division properties unless accompanied by staff members or his family. Police arrested the youth at his residence and lodged him at Brandon Police Service to appear in court today on charges of Break and Enter with Intent and Fail to Comply with Undertaking.

On October 23, 2023, shortly after 10:00 am, police responded to a report of a theft from a business in the 1600 block of 18th Street. Two males reportedly fled the business with merchandise, but were located and arrested nearby. A 35-year-old male was later released to appear in court on December 28, 2023, on a charge of theft Under $5000. The second individual, a 22-year-old male was found to also be in possession of merchandise stolen from a second nearby business on the same day. He was also released to appear in court on December 28, 2023, on charges of Theft Under $5000 X2.

On October 23, 2023, Brandon police responded to a report of a break and enter to a shed on Heron Cove. Suspects forced the doors over the weekend, and it is not clear if anything was taken. On October 23, 2023, shortly before 5:00 pm, police responded to a report of witnesses hearing fighting and arguing at a residence. When police attended, they located a 33-year-old male at the home contrary to a court order compelling him not to attend there. He was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on a charge of Fail to Comply with Undertaking.

Arrest Warrant:
On October 24, 2023, shortly before 1:00 am, Brandon police responded to a report of a disturbance at a residence. When police attended, they learned that a 20-year-old male from Winnipeg was the cause of the issues. He was also wanted on outstanding charges of Fail to Attend Court. He was arrested and later released to appear in court on December 18, 2023.
