The results are in after Brandon School Division’s byelection on Wednesday, October 25th. In Ward 1, Kirk Carr was voted in – and Lorraine McConnell was elected in Ward 2.
They triumphed over candidates, Henry Sieklicki and Kara Morrice, who supported a move to potentially ban books on gender identity and sexuality from division schools. The unofficial results are listed below.
Ward 1:
• Kirk Carr, 1438 votes
• Sheri Miller, 807 votes
• Kara Morrice, 595 votes
• Quentin Derhak, 253 votes
• Bonnie-Lynn Mills, 240 votes
• Brad Rusnak, 78 votes
• Breanne Bauche, 66 votes
• Scott MacMillan, 57 votes
Ward 2:
• Lorraine McConnell, 299 votes
• Henry Sieklicki, 128 votes
Total votes cast: 3,961.
The two new trustees are to be sworn in at the November 13th BSD meeting.
