‘Squeal On Pigs Manitoba’ has put up wanted posters between Wawanesa and Alexander.
The organization is asking residents to be on the lookout for a large male wild pig that has been spotted in the area. They say the aggressive hog has been roaming western Manitoba for roughly two years.
Manitoba Pork and the federal and provincial governments have teamed up to bring awareness about invasive wild pigs.

‘Squeal on Pigs Manitoba’ says Eurasian wild boars, first brought to Canada in the 1980s for farming, can carry up to 89 diseases that threaten farm livestock. The animals also uproot and trample crops and can contaminate water sources with E. coli and other bacteria.
In 2022, ‘Squeal on Pigs Manitoba’ reported removing 122 pigs in the province through trapping or hunting – all of them were euthanized.
