A gathering will be held this Thursday at Brandon’s Calvary Temple to remember beloved restauranteur Ben Hernandez.
The owner of Benny’s Restaurant and Catering Service died unexpectedly in late September at the age of 61.
His family, which will continue operating the Rosser Avenue eatery, says Ben’s ‘Celebration of Life’ is open to everyone. His daughter Elizabeth Hernandez told The Brandon Sun, “His way of presenting in life is always to be around people and just have conversations, have a little bit of food, get to know one another, share stories, give advice. This come-and-go event embodies who my dad was when he was out in public speaking to people and how he made people feel.”
She also said “there won’t be any eulogies, but there will be a slideshow featuring pictures as well as videos recorded by her father’s friends and family talking about what he meant to them.”
Brandon’s Calvary Temple is located at 620-34th Street, and Benny’s Tribute will be held from 2:30 – 4:30 pm November 2nd.
