Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew has announced the creation of the Premier’s Business and Jobs Council with the goal of fostering economic growth and job creation in the province.
“The members of this council bring with them a range of experiences from different regions and sectors of our province,” said Kinew. “The Premier’s Business and Jobs Council is an important opportunity for Manitobans from all walks of life to come together at the table, share their expertise and come up with creative solutions to the economic challenges we face today.”
The council will be co-chaired by Ash Modha, chief executive officer of Mondetta Clothing, and Kevin Rebeck, president, Manitoba Federation of Labour. Pratik Modha, former stakeholder relations officer at the Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Corporation, will serve as the secretary for the council.
“I am deeply humbled to work with this impressive council of advisors,” said Kinew. “Together we will ensure Manitoba is a leader on not only the national, but global economic stage. We will create lasting trade partnerships here at home and abroad.”
The council will have a total of 34 members including Brandon Chamber of Commerce General Manager Connor Ketchen. He told the Brandon Sun he’s “committed to advocating for Brandon’s interests within the organization, specifically in terms of business growth, job creation, and the broader economic plan.”
Kinew also said “The council’s work will build on the priorities Manitobans have shared with the government, strengthening Manitoba’s low-carbon, diverse economy while creating good family-supporting jobs across the province.”
