On February 9, 2024, at approximately 3:35 pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle located on 9th Street NW in Portage la Prairie.
An officer approached the vehicle, with a single occupant, and recognized the driver, a 30-year-old male from Portage la Prairie, who was driving with a suspended driver’s license.
The 30-year-old male was placed under arrest and upon his search, officers located a cell phone and a quantity of cash. A search of the vehicle located a small quantity of drug suspected of being methamphetamine, another cell phone and unstamped cigarettes.
A search warrant was drafted and executed at a residence, located on 9th Street NW in Portage la Prairie, where officers located an additional quantity of drug suspected of being methamphetamine, multiple cell phones, unstamped cigarettes, knives, firearms, ammunition and other drug related paraphernalia.
RCMP have charged 30-yeard-old Tyler Rutherford with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and numerous firearm-related offences. He was remanded into custody for a court appearance scheduled for today in Portage la Prairie.
