-The Winnipeg Jets and Colorado Avalanche NHL Western Conference quarterfinal series shifts to Denver tonight for Game 3. The series is tied at one. Game 4 goes Sunday afternoon. In other action tonight – the Rangers, up 2-0 in their series, visit the Capitals, and the Canucks are in Nashville, and the Kings host the Oilers with both series tied 1.
-The Brandon AAA U18 Wheat Kings play their final preliminary round game at the Telus Cup in Nova Scotia this afternoon against the Markham Waxers. Brandon is 2-and-2 and in 4th place in the tournament and have clinched a spot in the semi-finals on Saturday.
-Canada won its preliminary round opener Thursday at the 2024 World U18 Hockey Championship in Finland – they doubled Sweden 6-3. The Brandon Wheat Kings’ Charlie Elick and Roger McQueen each had an assist. Canada faces Czechia today.
-The Winkler Flyers can claim the Manitoba Junior Hockey League crown tonight with a win over the defending champion Steinbach Pistons. The Flyers lead the best-of-seven Turnbull Cup final 3-games-to-none. Winkler last won the MJHL championship in 1998 when they beat the St. James Canadians in the final.
-and Gimli’s Kadriana and Colton Lott lost 6-5 in an extra end to Estonia in the qualification round at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Sweden. Canada finished fifth in the tournament. Estonia will play Norway, and Sweden plays Switzerland in the semi-finals today.
