The 2024 Skills Canada National Competition was held in Québec City last week with more than 500 students and apprentices from across the country competing for the title of national
champion in over 40 Skill Areas at the Centre de foires d’ExpoCité.
Students from Brandon’s Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School brought home hardware in five different competitions this year – easily the highest-awarded high school in Canada. The school says their success is a testament to the importance of vocational education in our overall academic curriculum.
The following CPRSS students were Medal Recipients in the 2024 Skills Canada National Competition:
• Alicia Decosse received a Silver Medal in Baking
• Mathew Kuszak received a Silver Medal for Autobody Repair
• Sloane Williams received a Silver Medal in Mechanical Engineering CAD
• Manu Tarubal received a Gold Medal in Architectural Technology and Design
• Oliver Sawatsky received a Gold Medal in Automobile Technology
Skills Canada annually recognizes the top-performing students in each Province. This year, Oliver Sawatsky, a Crocus Plains student from Automotive Technology, brought home the esteemed award for the first time in the school’s history.
