Did you know this weekend, it’s not only free to get into ‘Toba’s Provincial Parks, but you won’t need a license to throw a line in the water because it’s a free family fishing weekend starting Friday June 7th through to Sunday June 9th. But if you road trip it, you’ll still need a federal fishing license at National Parks, like Riding Mountain National Park.
Thomas, my son, got a new fishing rod for his birthday last week, so my Husband I plan to perch our lawn chairs on the public dock at Rock Lake, hook him up with some bait, and let him, “reel em in”! My fondest memories as a kid growing up in Baldur-my late Father used to take the family to this very lake, Rock Lake, just minutes from Baldur, and teach my brother Dean and I; how to throw a line from the shore. I remember once that he was standing on a rock-fishing. when he lost his balance and fell in! We thought he was a goner-but hey I was 6 years old, what did I know, right? Precious memories, thanks Dad!
