-The top two teams in the CFL meet tonight. The Saskatchewan Roughriders visit the Montreal Alouettes. Both teams are 5-and-1. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers ( are back in action Saturday in Toronto against the Argonauts.
-Canada’s women’s soccer team opens its championship title defence today with a match against 28th-ranked New Zealand at the Paris Olympics. Meanwhile, decorated sprinter Andre De Grasse and weightlifting champion Maude Charron will be Canada’s flag-bearers at the Paris Olympics. The opening ceremonies begin at 12:30 pm Manitoba time on Friday.
-In the Border Baseball League playoffs – Cartwright beat Baldur 4-3 in the first game of their best-of-5 West Division semi-final series – and Altona shutout Carman 1-0 in Game 1 of the East Division semi-final.
-The Blue Jays scored 4 runs in the 8th inning as they beat the Tampa Bay Rays 6-3.
-and Braxton Kuntz of Breezy Bend captured the 2024 Provincial Men’s Amateur Golf Championship Wednesday afternoon at the Rossmere Country Club in Winnipeg. Kuntz fired a final round even par 70 and finished with a 54-hole total of four-under par 206. That was three shots better than runner up Drew Jones of Shilo.
