Parks Canada is installing an almost 2 km-long curtain to contain zebra mussels in Clear Lake; and The Tourist vessel the Maltese is now grounded as part of attempt to prevent spread of invasive species.
“This is one of the longest deployments, this curtain is a heavy waterproof membrane that will naturally fall to the bottom of the lake where it is then secured with weights and a chain. Right now there’s no information on how long the curtain will be in place.
The Province of Manitoba will spray for mosquitoes in Winkler, there’s evidence of West Nile infection.
The province says there are no “locally acquired” cases of West Nile in Manitoba.

• Aug. 6 to 8: the intersection of 34th Street and Park Avenue will be paved.
• 27th Street from Victoria Avenue to Rosser Avenue will be paved Aug. 12- 14th

Health Canada issued the recall Tuesday for Solvable Pro’s paint cleaner and thinner as well as Varsol’s paint thinner. More than 101,000 units that were sold in Canada between April and July 2024: they have been recalled because of “potential leakage and chemical hazard” concerns.
