Winter conditions and low visibility may have been factors in a crash that killed a 50-year-old woman on Highway 16 on November 25, according to an RCMP release.
Police announced today they had responded to a crash on November 25 at about 5:40 PM. In their release, they said a Manitoba First Nations Police officer, who was travelling along Highway 16, came upon a two-vehicle collision near Macdonald, about 25 kilometers northwest of Portage la Prairie.
After investigating, police said they found that a southbound SUV, being driven by a 47-year-old man from Winnipeg, veered over the center line and collided head-on with a northbound SUV, being driven by a 50-year-old woman from Winnipeg. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the man was taken to Winnipeg for treatment.
RCMP have said they will continue to investigate.
