-The Brandon Wheat Kings wrapped up a three-game Alberta road trip on Sunday with a 5-1 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings. Up next for the Wheat Kings, a meeting with the Red Deer Rebels this Friday at Westoba Place.
-The Brandon AAA U18 Wheat Kings closed out their 6 game home stand with 5-2 loss to the visiting Winnipeg Bruins on Sunday. Brandon is now 18-3-0-1 and still in 1st place in the league. Next up, the Wheat Kings are in Shoal Lake Tuesday to take on the Yellowhead Chiefs.
-The Winnipeg Jets dropped their 3rd straight game – a 3-1 loss to the Dallas Stars yesterday. Winnipeg is back home Tuesday against the St. Louis Blues.
-In the Professional Women’s Hockey League, Elm Creek, Manitoba’s Corinne Schroeder made 35 saves as the New York Sirens edged the defending Walter Cup champion Minnesota Frost 4-3 in overtime. It was first game this season for both teams.
-A win and a loss against the MacEwan University Griffins for the Brandon University Bobcats men’s basketball over the weekend – the women’s squad won both of their games. In volleyball action – the Bobcats men posted a win and a loss against the University of Alberta – the women’s team came away winless.
-Canada’s Rachel Homan beat Sweden’s Anna Hasselborg 6-5 in the women’s final of the Grand Slam of Curling’s Kioti National on Sunday. On the men’s side Bruce Mouat of Scotland posted a 5-3 win over Ontario’s Brad Jacobs
-and the Minnesota Vikings improved to 10-and-2 after squeaking by the Arizona Cardinals 23-22 on Sunday. In the Monday Night NFL game – it’s the Browns and Broncos.
